About Bianco Superiore Quartzite

Bianco Superiore is a bright white quartzite with fine gray and taupe veining running in long, mostly horizontal lines — restrained rather than dramatic, closer to a good linen than to a marble river. Polished, the white lifts and the veining reads as a drawn line rather than a smudge. It is the stone for a kitchen that wants to be light and calm and stay that way.

White, and the problem with white

Most white countertops are one of two things: marble, which etches the first time a lemon sits on it, or an engineered quartz, which repeats a printed pattern every few feet and cannot take a hot pan. Bianco Superiore is neither. It is a natural quartzite, so the veining never repeats, it does not etch under acid, and heat is not a problem. What it asks in return is sealing, because a white stone will show a stain that a dark one would hide. Sealed and kept up, it is about as low-drama as a white counter gets.

From Brazil, polished, 3 cm

Our Bianco Superiore is quarried in Brazil and comes to Buda polished at 3 cm. Polished is right here — the gloss is what makes the white read as white rather than gray, and the veining is fine enough that a matte finish would flatten it into haze. The movement runs in long lines rather than swirls, which makes it unusually easy to lay out: veining that runs the length of a counter looks deliberate, and a book-matched pair across an island seam lines up cleanly. Ask us for consecutive slabs if the job needs that.

Where Bianco Superiore belongs

The default choice when a kitchen should feel bright. Perimeter counters and island together, a full-height backsplash, a waterfall end. It is equally at home in a bathroom, on a vanity or running up a shower wall, where a warmer white would go yellow under LED light. It pairs with everything — white, gray, navy and green cabinetry, oak, walnut, black, brass, nickel — which is exactly why it gets specified. If the design has a loud element somewhere else in the room, this is the surface that lets it be loud.

Working with it

Quartzite is hard, and it will not etch when lemon or wine sits on it, which is the practical difference between it and marble. It is porous, so it wants a good impregnating sealer at installation and a check every couple of years — more important on a white stone than on a dark one. Oil, red wine and turmeric are the things to wipe rather than leave. Day to day it wants a pH-neutral cleaner, not a general kitchen spray, which will strip a sealer over time. Our natural stone care guide covers the water test that tells you when sealing is due, and the Natural Stone Institute sets out when a countertop needs sealing and when it does not.

Questions we get about Bianco Superiore

How white is white?

Brighter than a Carrara, cooler than a Calacatta Gold, and it holds its white under LED light rather than going cream. Bring a cabinet door and put it on the slab — white next to white is the only test that settles it.

Is it the same as quartz?

No. Quartz is engineered — ground stone in resin, with a printed or repeated pattern. This is a quarried slab: no repeat, no resin, and no melting under a hot pan.

Does the veining match across slabs?

Only if the slabs are consecutive from the same block. Ask us before you buy if the layout depends on it, and we will pull them together.
