DAILY CLEANING

Simple Habits That Protect Your Stone

✅DO — Wipe spills immediately — especially acidic liquids like citrus, wine, and coffee
✅DO — Use a soft cloth or microfiber with warm water for daily cleaning
✅DO — Use pH-neutral stone cleaner — never dish soap (strips sealant over time)
✅DO — Use cutting boards and trivets — never cut directly on stone
❌DON’T — Use vinegar, bleach, ammonia, or acidic cleaners — they etch marble & quartzite
❌DON’T — Use abrasive scrubbers or steel wool — scratches the surface
❌DON’T — Leave standing water for extended periods near grout lines

SEALING SCHEDULE

How Often Should You Seal?

Stone Type	Seal Frequency
Granite	Every 1–3 years
Quartzite	Every 6–12 months
Marble	Every 3–6 months
Travertine	Every 6–12 months
Slate	Every 1–2 years

💡 Test: Drop water on the surface. If it beads up, you’re protected. If it absorbs, it’s time to seal.

STAIN REMOVAL

How to Remove Common Stone Stains

Coffee & Wine

Blot immediately — never rub. Apply baking soda paste mixed with hydrogen peroxide, cover with plastic wrap for 24 hours. Rinse and reseal.

🛢️

Oil & Grease

Apply talc powder or baking soda to absorb. Let sit for 24 hours. Clean with pH-neutral degreaser and warm water. May need multiple applications.

Etching (Acid)

Etching is surface damage, not a stain. For marble, use marble polishing powder to buff out. For severe etching, call a professional stone restorer.

🖊️

Ink & Dye

For light-coloured stone: use acetone or hydrogen peroxide. For dark stone: use lacquer thinner. Always test in an inconspicuous area first.
